VIP Event Store Closing Sale – Timing is Everything

I suggest that they invite these special VIP customers:

    • To an invitation only 3 – 4 hour shopping period
    • The day prior to the start of the sale.
    • This will concentrate the sales period and result in a more productive day.

The VIP Event Store Closing Sale gives their best customers first selection of newly reduced items that are on sale. It also allows them to shop at a more leisurely pace. The first day of the sale is extremely busy and often chaotic to shop.

These VIP customer’s average purchase:

    • Is usually much higher than your regular customers.
    • Sometimes twice as high.
    • You want to give them the opportunity to buy.
    • In some cases the sales from the VIP event are equal to 1/2 the volume of the first day of the sale and in a very condensed time frame.

VIP Event Store Closing Sale – Staging & Drawings

Many of my clients try to make it more like a social event and offer light refreshments. But don’t be fooled, the purpose of the VIP Event Store Closing Sale is to sell merchandise. You need to plan on being able to socialize a little bit, but you need to be staffed correctly to handle the sales.

Most of your VIP customers will shop multiple times during the sale. You need to make sure that you reach out to them often during your store closing, going out of business or retirement sale. They have supported you all those years you were open and will continue to support you during your closing event. Treat them well.

Make sure that entry cards for your Customer appreciation drawing are available for these important customers.

Many times “uninvited customers” will wander in during the VIP sale. I strongly suggest that you allow them to shop. You don’t want to offend anyone and you want all the sales you can get.
